Vrak opens 23 September

On the seafloor of the Baltic Sea there is a unique cultural heritage, wrecks and other historical relics from the Stone Age to present time. Vrak – Museum of Wrecks allows digital exploring the well-preserved shipwrecks.

The new maritime archaeology museum which is opening on Djurgården in Stockholm on 23 September, is housed in an old boat hangar.

The mythical wreck “Resande Man” is shown in scale 1:1 and presented using a hologram and the visitor experiences the feeling of moving through an old shipwreck.

In November 1660 Resande Man, a small warship was on its way to Poland on an important diplomatic mission. The ship sank and 38 people lost their lives.

Cannons and other items on Resande Man were retrieved by Hans Albrecht von Treileben already in 1661. But the position of the wreck was then forgotten. In 2012, the wreck of the Resande Man was finally found.
